The Kimberly Process
The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS), is a process which has been adopted by the United Nations in order to certify the origin of rough diamonds, prevent the trade in conflict diamonds™ and ensure that diamond purchases are not funding violence.
The certification scheme aims at preventing 'blood diamonds' from entering the mainstream rough diamond market. It was set up to assure consumers that by purchasing diamonds they were not financing war and human rights abuses.
